Nib Customisation and Repair
We do offer Nib Customisation and Repair work done by Mr. Sunny Koh. If you want something done not listed here, please contact us and we will advise accordingly. Normally there will be a charge for Nib Work but depending on the situation Charges can be waived or discounted. We will begin charging for custom grinds from effect of 15th March 2024 onwards. (11th March is our last appointment day before the Manila Pen Show weekend in which we are closed)
Singapore based customers must make an appointment using our Appointments Page to get nibwork done in person. we only accept remote requests on a case by case basis for people overseas. Any repair work would require the pen to be inspected first before a quote can be given. Typically grinds will take between 10 to 40 minutes depending on a number of factors. We don't charge for simple realignment of nibs nor flushing using our ultrasonic cleaner. All Nibwork during Pen Shows are chargable regardless.
Straits Pen Office is only open during weekdays but with hours till 9:00pm. We are not normally in on Weekends.

Straits Pen does not handle Nib size reducation nor adding flex.
For custom grinds to Arabic/Hebrew/Architect Point, pens should be empty of ink and if this is the first pen you are trying, a steel broad nib is prefered though a steel medium can be used as it is very different from other nib types. (Fines and Extra Fines do not have enough material to give a good line variation) Soft and flexible nibs must be avoided for this grind.

Any Custom Nib Grind or Tuning will void most pen warranty. (Depending on Manufacturer, it could be only the nib in question or the whole pen) Only a small number of pen manufacturers allowed 3rd party nibwork to be covered as this doesn't include most major brands.
